5 Greatest Video Games of 2013

4. Bioshock: Infinite

Interestingly, combat was a hot topic of conversation when BioShock Infinite was released earlier this year. The game was a masterwork of storytelling, bringing players to the (seemingly) lovely floating city of Columbia where America is a religion and a girl needs your help. Unfortunately, rather than stay and take in the gorgeous scenery and unravel the curious, genius plot, you have to kill a whole bunch of things.

The game sparked many debates about whether or not graphic violence is still required in games that don’t seem like they really benefit from it. The complaint isn’t necessarily that Infinite’s combat is bad, just that it sort of shatters the tone of what otherwise would be a fairly intellectual experience.
