The Most Unusual Beaches in the World

2. Pink Sands Beach, Harbour Island, Bahamas

Pink Sands Beach, Harbour Island, Bahamas2

Harbour Island is famous for its  pink sand beaches. A three-mile stretch of incredible beauty, the sands are coloured by finely crushed coral, broken shells. The pink color comes from tiny microscopic shelled animals known as Foraminifera. These animals live on the underside of the reefs, on the sea floors and have a bright pink or red shell. A light rose blush by day, they become a saturated pink at sunset. It is often called the world’s most beautiful beach.
